Description

The M-65A2 is an upgrade to the M65 Assault Rifle for the Naval Infantry, and police forces, it still uses the proprietary gas system to avoid malfunctions and uses a short-stroke piston driving operating rod to force the bolt carrier to the rear. This design prevents combustion gases from entering the weapon's barrel as well as improve performance in rough conditions. It has an ambidextrous safety, and a forward ejection system for empty cartridges. The Russo-American Bushmaster-Kalashnikov Concern designers at copied the FN Herstral design and if the company existed in the late 21st century a lawsuit would have been filed. The M65A2 features a gas tube, receiver, and bolt carrier all exist as a single component group allowing for a more compact version of the Bushmaster Gas Piston system. With the commonality of the M65A1 and the M65A2 less than 50% the Earth Colonial Federation completed their replacement plan by 2115. With a more leveled stock and barrel the accuracy of the A2 is increased almost 50%. Like the A1 before it the M65A2 uses the 6.5x39mm Grendel round granting it a better range then the 6.8SPC and 6.8ERP(Enhanced Range and Penetration). The use of more common round cartridge pleased the Russian Federation military when the ECF ordered all earth Nations to standardize ammunition production and use the US having not lost an arms deal was pleased that the 6.5mm rounds were already in use with State Police Special Forces. Most ammunition from Earth is made in Russia and 45% of all M65A2 production takes place in the US. The gun combines fully automatic features of rifles like the AK-15 and the accurate fire of the M6A2 Carbine. Rate of fire is 800 rounds a minute and the user is able to go from CQC combat to open warfare with ease. This is due to the configuration of 83.82cm in total length allows the 6.5mm round to maximize its range and penetration. Any soldier can use the rifle like a marksmen if needed which helps the Naval Infantry's focus on accurate fire. The rifle on the bottom features the Polish designed GPBO-40 40mm grenade launcher that is highly compact and easy to manufacture with the right amount of polymers developments. The 40mm grenade is a tried and true weapon giving the infantryman a great way to increase damage on target.
